Resurrection Remix v3.3.1 is 7/10.

I am currently running Resurrection Remix v3.3.1 and I am some what struggling to enjoy it like I use too and this is because it keeps jamming or showing some extreme lag. It is quite frustrating.

Some of the problems I have experienced so far:

  • Hanging / Jamming in Chrome, Mozilla, default browser.
  • Google Voice crashes the second I tap on the microphone and it seems no matter where I access Google Voice from, it crashes and basically is not working regardless of which way I try and access it.
  • Slow and laggy.

I have tried different kernels as well. I was originally on the Dorimanx kernel and now I am the standard default version.

Time for a new ROM.

RootBox v3.3.1 kicks off my 2013.

I started 2013 with the RootBox v3.3.1 ROM. It is brilliant just like all the previous ROMs I have run in the past. It is running the very latest Android Jellybean v4.2.1.

Noticeably the one feature I really like/love is the notification bar and quick access to the various toggles available behind the scenes. (see the highlighted icon top right of the screen in my screenshot below).

Tapping on this icon takes one to the following screen of toggles.

These toggles can be switched on/off through ROM control in settings. There is also the ability to add a favorite person to the bar for very quick access. Very useful.

To download the ROM visit XDA developers forum or checkout the RootBox website.

My latest ROM is Bitfor v4.6

I thought I would try a new ROM while I wait for the new Resurrection Remix ROM. This one is called Bitfor and it is on v4.6 so far.

It has a whole host of features such as: Home Screen mode, blocking mode, power saving, multi-window, smart stay, Media share etc.

The multi-window works well enough, although I don’t think the SGS2 is powerful enough to run it properly like it runs on the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Also the screen is just a bit to small to make it useful.

One thing that I find frustrating is the lack of a screen capture function (volume down + power button). As an alternative I use an app called Screenshot, but it would be nice to see this feature in a future version.
